Yards Done Right is a family owned business. Its owners, Jim and Judy Beveridge both love playing in the dirt and are seen side by side all season long working hard to make sure their customers have the best yard in the neighborhood.
Jim was 14 when he started his landscaping career. Exactly how many years ago that really was is a closely kept a secret. But it was a long time ago. He rolled up his sleeves and began working after school and in the summer in South Euclid for a third generation landscaping company.
Jim’s passion for the outdoors led him to Ohio State University. After learning a lot about plants and tree names in Latin, he earned his horticultural degree in 1985. After returning to Cleveland, he increased his knowledge and his experience by working for several landscaping companies in every position imaginable from general crew member to right hand man.
An entrepreneur at heart, his first landscaping business was as co-owner in Forestview Landscaping Co. where for several years Jim did everything from mowing to full yard designs, irrigation, outdoor lighting, deck construction and just about anything else that can be done outside to make your yard beautiful.
Yards Done Right was launched in 2011 after Jim realized that he could improve people’s yards by improving their soil. He hasn’t stopped doing just that since.
Judy has been playing with dirt since she was a young girl growing up in Lakewood where she improved her parent’s yard. She received her degree in Industrial Design in 1986 from The Ohio State University and has worked in the publishing business in the Columbus/Cleveland area.
She never gave up her love of beautiful flowers, cultivating them in every rental property she lived in. She moved to Westlake with Jim in 1999 and has been a regular entrant in the “Westlake in Bloom” contest since 2003. While she is still chasing the elusive first place award, Judy has come in second or third place nine times for her vegetable garden or the Yards Done Right “Adopt-a-Spot” at the historic Weston House on Center Ridge Road for the flowers/shrubs planted there every summer. She joined Yards Done Right full time in 2012 as Quality Control Officer/Operations Manager or as most people know her as “the crew.” Which means she gets to play in the dirt all of the time!
Today, Yards Done Right offers custom lawn nutritional programs that address the deficiencies in soils and offers corrective organic-based services that yield lush, green lawns and healthy plants, shrubs and trees.
